GREGORY RATOFF. Vintage 8×10 glossy sepia tone chest-up portrait, boldly signed with his name alone in black fountain pen. Fine condition, with scattered mild background dings and a few spots of emulsification in the background, not substantially detracting from the overall appearance of the image. Actor, director, writer, and producer, Gregory Ratoff is perhaps best remembered as theatrical producer Max Fabian in All About Eve (1950), one of nearly fifty film roles in which he appeared. He also enjoyed a fairly prolific career as a director in Hollywood and Europe, often producing his own seat-of-the-pants low-budget films, but also responsible for some impressive A-list hits, including Intermezzo (1939) and The Corsican Brothers (1941). Signed photographs are extremely scarce.
