GLENN STRANGE. Vintage glossy 8×10 black and white chest-up portrait in Western costume, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, “‘To Ace Abbott/A real friend/and a/Swell/Wretler/Sincerely/Glenn/Strange/Paducah, Kentucky/Thurs. Nov. 3, 1949.” Fine condition, with light waviness along portions of the bottom and left edges; and a small tear in the left border. Hulking character actor Glenn Strange appeared in over 300 films and television series during a career that spanned more than four decades. From 1961-73 he appeared as Sam Noonan in over 200 episodes of the long-running television series, “Gunsmoke, ” and “B” Westerns were long a staple of his career. However, to horror fans, he is best known for playing the Frankenstein monster in three films, which included House of Frankenstein (1944) and House of Dracula (1945). Vintage signed photographs are quite uncommon.
