GEORGE ARLISS. Vintage 8×10 glossy black and white head and shoulders profile portrait from Gaumont British Pictures Corporation, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, “George Feldarck/[indecipherable/George Arliss.” Fine condition, with very mild border soiling. The Oscar-winning actor was considered (by himself) to be without peer among thespians. He portrayed Disraeli and Voltaire, a rajah, a hobo, and everything in between, each with unflagging zest, though, beneath the makeup, always seeming to be very much George Arliss.
