JANET GAYNOR and CHARLES FARRELL. Charming 8×10 double-weight semi-glossy black and white half-length studio portrait, boldly signed in later years in black felt tip ink, “Best wishes/Janet Gaynor, “ and additionally signed in blue felt tip ink, “Best wishes/Charles Farrell.” Fine condition, with a single very mild handling bend in the left border and background, visible only in the border when the photograph is viewed head on and not significantly detracting from overall appearance. Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell made screen magic in three silent screen classics directed by Frank Borzage — 7th Heaven (1927), Street Angel (1928), and Lucky Star (1929), with Gaynor winning the first Best Actress Oscar largely for her performance in the frist of these films. They continued their partnership through the first half of the 1930s with continued box office success, if less artistic merit. But those three silent films are marvels! Jointly signed photographs are surprisingly uncommon.
