Bold vintage signature and inscription, “To Francis/Frank Lovejoy,” in black fountain pen on a 6×4 white index card. Very fine condition, with a small magazine photograph affixed at the top right corner. A pencil notation on the reverse side indicates that this autograph was obtained in person in November 1964. This card was part of the John Verzi collection, but was possibly obtained by an acquaintance. A forceful, determined screen presence, Frank Lovejoy was frequently cast as a soldier, reporter or detective during a career that was cut short by a heart attack at age 50. One of his final appearances was as the Nixon-like politician, Frank Cantwell, in the original production of Gore Vidal’s The Best Man, Lovejoy’s only Broadway hit in eight outings.
