Bold vintage signature, “Sincerely,/Frances Farmer,” in black fountain pen on the reverse side of a government postcard, about 5×3. Very fine condition, with a pencil annotation along the extreme bottom edge. Frances Farmer’s promising career was cut short by chronic alcoholism and severe mental instability. She spent many years institutionalized in a succession of mental hospitals before being released in 1950. Thereafter, she worked occasionally on television and hosted several radio shows until 1964, when alcoholism effectively terminated her career.
