EVELYN ANKERS. Vintage 10×8 glossy sepia black and white still from Last of the Redmen (1947), signed and inscribed in later years in blue ballpoint ink, “To Jim/Aloha/Evelyn Ankers.” Fine condition, with two mild diagonal bends in the background at the lower left, and portions of the writing, including several letters of her surname, penned against a darker area of the image and best viewed by angling the photograph slightly into the light, although the writing in general is clearer on the actual photograph than it appears in the accompanying scan. The Universal Pictures scream queen, who appeared in such films as The Wolfman (1941) and The Ghost of Frankenstein (1942), is quite scarce in signed photographs.
