Uncommon vintage signature and inscription, “To Joe/Ernest Cossart,” in blue fountain pen on a beige album page, about 6 x 4.4. Fine condition, with a large magazine photograph affixed below the autograph. A notation on the reverse side indicates that this autograph was obtained in person in November 1940. The British character actor became a Paramount Pictures contract player in 1935 following a lengthy theatrical career. Although cast on numerous occasions as a stuffy butler or manservant, he still managed to portray an interesting gallery of characters in such films as Angel (1937), Tower of London (1939), and Kitty Foyle (1940).
