Bold signature and inscription, “To John/with my best wishes/Enid Markey,” in black fountain pen on a 6×4 white index card.  Very fine condition, with a small magazine photograph affixed at the top right corner.  Undated on the reverse side, but likely early 1960s.  John Verzi collection.  Entering film in 1911, Enid Markey appeared in several dozen shorts before graduating to full-length films and in 1918 was cast as the screen’s first Jane in Tarzan of the Apes opposite Elmo Lincoln. She abandoned the screen in 1920 to concentrate on theatrical work, returning in small roles in 1945. She remained active on the screen and in television until 1968, including a recurring role on “The Andy Griffith Show.”
