Black and white 7.75 x 10.75 head and shoulders book-weight portrait, with printed biography below, removed from the 1924 edition of “Stars of the Photoplay,” signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, “To John/the best to you -/Doris Kenyon.” A notation along the extreme top right edge indicates that this page was signed in person in March 1964. Fine condition, with a few mild handling bends in the borders and a slightly ragged left edge where the page was removed from the Photoplay book. Doris Kenyon was a popular leading lady of the silent screen, appearing in dozens of dramas opposite such stars as Rudolph Valentino and her husband, Milton Sills. The actress, who had stage experience, made a smooth transition to sound, but her popularity soon faded and, apart from three television appearances in later years, her career came to an end in 1938.
