John Verzi collection. A highly successful child actress and ingenue during the 1940s, Diana Lynn turned more frequently to television and the stage as film roles began to dry up in the mid-1950s. She died of a stroke in 1971 at age 45 as she was preparing a return to film as Anthony Perkins’s mother in Play It As It Lays.
