DENNIS O’KEEFE. Vintage 9×7 glossy black and white half-length still portrait from an unknown film, signed and inscribed in purple fountain pen, “To/Kay/Sincerly/Dennis O’Keefe.” Fine condition, with slightly unevenly trimmed borders. Dennis O’Keefe labored virtually unnoticed in Hollywood throughout the 1930s, playing uncredited bit roles in nearly 150 films, before finally landing his first starring role, albeit in a forgettable “B” film, in 1939. He continued as an affable leading man in scores of films for the next two decades, frequently battling the Mob in lower-budget suspense films, and also made numerous appearances on television, including as the star of his own short-lived series in 1959. Signed photographs are extremely uncommon, this being the first I have had in a decade.
