Glossy 3.5 x 5 black and white bust portrait, boldly signed in blue felt tip ink.  Very good condition, with surface paper loss to the top right corner tip; a small stain in the right border; several surface chips in the background and to the facial area; and a lengthy diagonal bend that passes through her hair.  The prolific British character actress specialized in playing frumpy wives, maids, and domestics, appearing in such films as The Fallen Idol (1948), The Deep Blue Sea (1955), and Georgy Girl (1966).  She became something of an overnight star as a result of the television series “Till Death Do Us Part,’ which became the basis for “All in the Family.”  Although this image is in less than ideal condition, signed photographs are quite scarce.
