CORINNE LUCHAIRE. Scarce 3.5 x 5.5 glossy black and white publicity portrait, signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, “To [indecipherable]/Corinne Luchaire.” Near very fine condition, with much of her signaturepenned against a dark area of the image, but readable with moderate contrast. Corinne Luchaire became a French film star during the 1930s as a teenager and made a handful of films before ill health forced her to retire at age 19. Both her parents were Nazi sympathizers and Luchaire fraternized openly with the Germans under the Vichy regime, leading to her imprisonment following the war. She died of tuberculosis in 1950 at age 28.
