Sepia tone 7.2 x 10.7 head and shoulders book-weight profile portrait, with printed biography below, removed from the 1924 edition of “Stars of the Photoplay, ” boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, “To John/From/Constance Talmadge.” Fine condition, with a mild bend to the top left corner tip and a small tear in the right border. A faint pencil notation along the extreme top right edge indicates that this page was signed in person in June 1963. A leading comic actress of the silent screen, Constance Talmadge appeared in over 80 films, most of them shorts, before retiring from the screen in 1929. She abandoned comedy shorts after rocketing to stardom following her appearance in D.W. Griffith’s Intolerance (1916), and appeared as a leading lady in feature length films for the duration of the silent era. Signed images are extremely uncommon.
