COLEMAN HAWKINS. Extremely scarce vintage signature in black fountain pen on a yellow album page, about 6 x 4.5. Fine condition, with a mild horizontal bend and small spots of light soiling blow and well away from the signature. The first important and infuential jazz exponent of the tenor saxophone, Coleman Hawkins played professionally from the early 1920s until the late 1960s, contributing mightily to the development of bebop in the 1940s and avant-gade jazz in the 1950s and 1960s.
