The popular leading lady of the silent screen was frequently cast as an exotic vamp and appeared opposite such stars as John Barrymore, Rudolph Valentino, Lon Chaney and Ramon Novarro. She went into retirement in 1934, thereafter making occasional appearences in film and on television until 1976.
