BOBBY FISCHER. Exceptionally scarce signature in brown felt tip ink on a 6×4 green index card. Very fine condition. A pencil notation on the reverse side indicates that this autograph was obtained in person in December 1972. Considered by many to be the greatest chess player of all time, Bobby Fisher won the world chess championship match against Boris Spassky in 1972. He subsequently retreated from public life, moving from country to country and exhibiting erratic behavior that led to several confrontations with the law. He died of renal failure in January 2008 at the age of 64. John Verzi Collection.
