BERNARD BLIER. Vintage 3.5 x 5.5 glossy deckle-edge black and white chest-up portrait, circa 1940, boldly signed and inscribed, to a recipient whose name I am unable to decipher, in blue fountain pen. Very fine condition, with portions of the signature penned against the dark fabric of his coat, but quite readable. Appearing in over 180 films during the course of a five-decde career, including Quai des Orfevres (1947) and The Tall Blonde Man With One Black Shoe (1972), French character actor Bernard Blier was honored with a Cesar Aware for lifetime achievement shortly before his death in 1989 and also had a commemorative stamp issued in his honor in recognition of his contribution to French film.
