Vintage signature and inscription, “To Joe/Barbara Pepper,” in blue fountain pen on a green album page, 5.5 x 4.3. Very fine condition. A notation on the reverse side indicates that this autograph was obtained in person in December 1941. Platinum blonde character actress Barbara Pepper entered films in the early 1930s and subsequently appeared in scores of films, frequently in uncredited bits, usually cast as a hard-boiled floozie. Following the death of her husband, actor Craig Reynolds, in an auto crash in 1949, the actress succumbed to depression and alcoholism and her career declined precipitously. In 1965 she found somewhat steady employment as Doris Ziffel on the “Green Acres” television series, appearing in 30 episodes before ill health forced her to withdraw from the show.
