ANTHONY FRANCIOSA. Glossy 7.75 x 10 black and white chest-up lobby still portrait for The Naked Maja (1959), boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, “To John/Good Wishes/Anthony Franciosa.” Fine condition, with the vertical borders very slightly trimmed and a mild vertical bend along the left edge, just below the signature. At his peak in the mid-1950s and early 1960s, the temperamental actor won an Oscar nomination for his performance in A Hatful of Rain (1957). By the mid-Sixties, good film roles began to elude him as he developed a reputation for being “difficult, ” although he would continue to act, frequently on television, for another three decades.
