Borderless vintage 5×7 matte finish black and white full-length studio portrait, boldly signed in black fountain pen, “Always/Alison Skipworth.” Very fine condition. British-born character actress Alison Skipworth made her Broadway debut in 1899, and subsequently appeared on Broadway virtually every season until she moved to Hollywood in 1930. During the next eight years, she appeared in close to 50 films, generally cast as a snooty, sharp-tongued dowager. She is best remembered as a daunting comic foil to W.C. Fields in such films as Tillie and Gus (1933) and Six of a Kind (1934). Signed photographs are quite uncommon.
