Vintage glossy 4.5 x 4.5 black and white half-length photograph of the author of “Brave New World,” affixed to a 6×7 mount, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen on the mount, “ForRHN/Looking at Smokey’s/Madonna./Aldous Huxley/1963.”  This photograph was presented to the California-based artist, Richard H. “Smokey” Newton a few months prior to Huxley’s death.  Newton had served in the British Coast Guard during World War II.  Extremely scarce in signed photographs.
