Vintage 7.6 x 9.6 matte finish black and white three-quarter length portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, “For/Benjamin Kabastrich/Sincerely/Adele Astaire/1919.”  Fine condition, with one small handling bend at the bottom right corner; a small tear in the background along the right edge, carefully repaired on the reverse side with scotch tape; and faint silvering in the dark areas along the edges.  The dancer, singer, and actress, partnering with her brother Fred, was the toast of Broadway in the 1920s, abandoning her career for marriage in 1932.  Signed solo portraits are extremely uncommon.
