ABRAHAM LINCOLN

Autograph endorsement, “Let this man take the oath/of Dec. 8, 1863 and be discharged./Jan. 28, 1865  A. Lincoln,” beneath an endorsement for Mr. Calvert of Boone County, Kentucky, by G. Clay Smith, a Union officer who was elected to the U.S. Congress from Kentucky in 1862.  Fine condition, with light toning.  Double matted with an original 1903 engraving of Lincoln, 8.5 x 11.5, signed on the mount in pencil by artist Thomas Johnson.  Impressively framed to an overall size of 19 x 26.5.
