W. C. FIELDS. Vintage 7.75x10 matte finish silver tone bust portrait of the inimitable, irascible comic around the time of his debut as a Ziefeld headliner, circa 1915, boldly inscribed in black fountain pen, "To Georgia (illegible)/all good wishes/W.C. Fields." The photograph has apparently been trimmed down from a larger size, with one or two letters of the inscribee's last name having been cut off. Fields's own signature, however, remains intact and the image is otherwise in excellent condition. Handsomely double matted in shades of green and framed. Scarce from this early in his career.
