WALTER SLEZAK. Uncommon vintage 8x10 glossy black and white half-length costume portrait from The Spanish Main (1945), inscribed in blue ballpoint ink, "To/Morris/Walter Slezak." Very good condition, with scattered handling bends, including a lengthy bend in the right background, visible in the accompanying scan, noticeably detracting from the overall appearance of the image. The photograph is priced accordingly. Walter Slezak, the slender, handsome matinee idol of the Viennese stage and German screen star of the 1920s, morphed into a corpulent character actor who enjoyed huge success in Hollywood in the 1940s and '50s.
