WALTER ABEL. Vintage 1930s 8x10 matte finish silver tone chest-up publicity portrait, boldly signed in in blue fountain pen, "Best Wishes/Walter Abel." Very fine condition. Walter Abel's career -- onstage, in films and television -- spanned more than 60 years. He had one of the longest careers in Broadway history, appearing in 40 plays between 1919 and 1975. In Hollywood, he appeared in scores of films, generally in effective supporting roles, after a not-too-successful performance as D'Artagnan in the 1935 version of The Three Musketeers.
