Percy Kilbride
PERCY KILBRIDE. Vintage 1940s 8x10 glossy black and white half-length portrait, by Madison Lacey, boldly signed in blue fountain pen, "Cordially yours/Percy Kilbride." Fine condition, with scattered mild handling bends in the borders and the background, not substantially detracting from the overall appearance of the image. Percy Kilbride spent most of his career onstage, much of the time in touring stock companies where he was frequently cast as a country bumpkin. This stage experience would serve him well in films when he won the role of Pa Kettle in The Egg and I (1947). His performance and that of Marjorie Main as Ma Kettle were so popular that they would go on to appear in seven sequels over the next decade. Signed photographs are extremely scarce.
