Paul Cavanagh
PAUL CAVANAGH. Vintage 1935 8x10 glossy black and white chest-up publicity portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, "To Joe/Best wishes/Paul Cavanagh/July 3/1937." Fine condition, with a mild bend to the top right corner, not affecting the image, and a meandering vertical impression in the background near the right edge, not substantially detracting from the overall appearance of the image. The British-born leading man came to Hollywood in 1930, grew a mustache, and quickly began a prolific three-decade career as a caddish lover or suave villain, making nearly 150 film and television appearances before his retirement in 1960. Signed photographs larger than postcard size are surprisingly uncommon.
