NANCY CARROLL. Charming vintage 8x10 matte finish silver tone full-length costume portrait, circa 1932, boldly signed with her name alone in black fountain pen. Near very fine condition, with a smudge in the left border to the first letter of the signature. Nancy Carroll was one of the most popular stars of the early 1930s, appearing in numerous musicals, light comedies and dramas. Although her dramatic range was decidedly modest, she could be utterly ingratiating when given the right material, as in such gems as Sweetie (1929), Honey and Laughter (both 1930). By 1935, her popularity began to fade, and after 1938 she went into semi-retirement, making sporadic forays into television and the stage in her remaining years.
