MILDRED BAILEY. Scarce vintage 8x10 glossy sepia tone half-length 1940s portrait by Maurice Seymour, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, "To Bob Enright -/Best Wishes -/Mildred Bailey -." Fine condition, with the entire image glued to a same size sheet from a photograph album book, resulting in some extremely mild surface waviness, not substantially detracting from the overall appearance of the image. Jazz great Mildred Bailey left a rich recorded legacy, including performances with Paul Whiteman, the Dorsey brothers, Benny Goodman and Red Norvo (her third husband). Poor health forced an early retirement at the conclusion of World War II and she died at age 44 from complictions of diabetes.
