Original vintage 8x10 glossy black and white publicity portrait for Rulers of the Sea (1939), boldly signed and inscribed in later years in black felt tip ink, "Best wishesMargaret/Lockwood." Fine condition, with scattered very mild handling bends and dings, not substantially detracting from the overall appearance of the image. Margaret Lockwood was an accomplished star of the British stage and screen. Best remembered for her starring performance in Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes (1938), she also enjoyed a long string of successes at the Gainsborough Studios, playing villainnesses in such heavy-breathing costume dramas as The Man in Grey (1943) and The Wicked Lady (1945).
