MAE WEST (2). Incredible vintage 13.75 x 10.75 matte finish sepia tone publicity portrait for Belle of the Nineties (1934), inscribed and signed in blue fountain pen and dated 1934 in her hand. Fine condition, with very mild handling bends that do not substantially detract from the overall appearance of the image, and some skipping due to uneven ink flow making the inscription a bit difficult to decipher, although the writing as a whole is considerably bolder on the actual photograph than it appears in the accompanying scan. Additionally, the borders are fuller and more even than they appear in the scan. The inscribee was reportedly a member of the on-screen band that accompanied West in the film. Exceptionally scarce in oversize format.
