LYLE TALBOT. Vintage 8x10 matte finish light sepia tone publicity portrait, circa 1932, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, "To Victoria/With best wishes/Lyle Talbot." Fine condition, with a tiny bend to the bottom left corner tip and faint silvering to the darker areas of the image, invisible when the photograph is viewed head on. The writing is uniformly stronger than it appears in the accompanying scan. An essential member of the Warner Bros. stock company, Lyle Talbot appeared in scores of films throughout the 1930s and '40s, sometimes churning them out at a rate of nearly one a month. He played supporting roles in A films and leading roles in B films. In the 1950s he turned mostly to television, doing guest performances on numerous popular series until his retirement in the mid-1980s. In all, in a career that spanned over fifty years, his film and television appearances numbered over 300.
