LON CHANEY. Scarce vintage 9.25 x 12.25 matte finish silver tone chest-up portrait from Tell It to the Marines (1926), inscribed in black fountain pen, "Mr. Roger Pielow/with best personal/regards of/Lon Chaney." Very good condition, with the photograph trimmed from its original 11x14 size, the trimming resulting in the loss of a portion of the "w" in "with," and the entire image affixed to an equal size piece of cardboard. The ink has uniformly faded to a shade of brown, with some of the lettering in the inscription and the surname quite faint. Still, an imposing image of one of Hollywood's true icons, always elusive in signed material.
