JOAN GREENWOOD. Vintage 4-3/8 x 6-1/4 glossy black and white head and shoulders publicity portrait, boldly signed in blue fountain pen, "All good wishes/Joan Greenwood/1946." A three-line note has also been penned on the reverse side, thanking her respondent for the fan letter. Near fine condition, with scattered mild handling bends and dings, mostly invisible when the image is viewed head on, and a few letters of the signature and sentiment penned over darker areas of the image. The photograph may have been slightly trimmed from its original size. After about a dozen dramatic roles in the 1940s, Joan Greenwood finally came into her own as a saucy little minx in some of Britain's greatest classic screen comedies, including Kind Hearts and Coronets, The Man in the White Suit, The Importance of Being Earnest and Tom Jones.
