IRVING BERLIN. Vintage 8x10 glossy black and white chest-up portrait, boldlly signed with his name alone in blue ink. Very fine condition. The photograph is archivally framed and triple matted in red, white, and blue, with all four borders showing, to an overall size of 17x19. The feverishly productive composer and lyricist wrote some three thousand songs, including the scores for Annie Get Your Gun, Top Hat, White Christmas, and Easter Parade. Asked to define Berlin's place in American music, Jerome Kern famously replied, "Irving Berlin has no place in American music. Irving Berlin IS American music."
