HELMUT DANTINE. Vintage 8x10 double-weight semi-glossy silver tone publicity portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint ink, "To Regina!/Helmut Dantine." Fine condition, with scattered surface impressions and handling bends, one running noticeably along a small area in the background near the right edge, detracting very slightly from the overall appearance of the image. A refugee from Nazi-occupied Austria, Helmut Dantine found himself playing steely Nazi villains in Hollywood during the Second World War, one of his most arresting performances being the wounded but fanatic German flyer in Mrs. Miniver (1942).
