HEATHER ANGEL. Original vintage 7x9 glossy black and white publicity still from Bulldog Drummond's Secret Police (1939), signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, "To John/with my best/wishes/Heather Angel." Fine condition, with trimmed borders. The writing, penned across the sofa, is rather stronger on the actual photograph than it appears in the accompanying scan. A notation on the reverse side indicates that the photograph was signed in person at Angel's home in 1972. British-born Heather Angel had leading roles in several big-budget films of the 1930s, including The Informer (1935) and The Last of the Mohicans (1936), and also appeared in dozens of "B" films, including a recurring role in the Bulldog Drummond series. By the 1940s, she was playing supporting roles, appearing in such major films as Pride and Prejudice (1940) and Lifeboat (1944).
