Greer Garson
GREER GARSON. Stunning vintage 10x8 matte finish black and white chest-up MGM publicity portrait of the Oscar-winning actress, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, "To Andy - with happy/memories of 'Strange Lady in/Town' - & all that cactus!/It was fun having you on/the team -/Best wishes always/Greer Garson." Fine condition, with faint surface scuffing and a few faint, almost invisible, spots of soiling on her chest. Andy Anderson, to whom the photograph is inscribed, was a cameraman who became Director of Photography at Warner Bros. Strange Lady in Town was released in 1955, and it's interesting to note that Garson was still signing this image so many years after it was first taken in around 1940. Of course, it's quite an image!
