GLYNIS JOHNS. Original vintage 7.25 x 9.5 glossy black and white J. Arthur Rank Organisation promotional portrait of the saucy British actress, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, "To Gerald/thank you/Glynis Johns." Fine condition, with two mild background dings. Glynis Johns enjoyed a six-decade career on film, television, and the stage. Her best known roles were as a mermaid in Miranda (1948) and a crusading mother in Mary Poppins (1964). When she was cast in Stephen Sondheim's 1973 musical, A Little Night Music, the composer tailored what became his most enduring hit, "Send in the Clowns," to the actress's husky, short-breathed voice.
