GILBERT ROLAND. Dashing glossy 8x10 black and white half-length costume portrait from an unknown film, boldly signed and inscribed in later years in blue felt tip ink, "To/David Martin/Most Sincerely/Gilbert Roland." Fine condition, with scattered mild creasing to the borders. Few silent screen stars proved as durable as Mexican-born Gilbert Roland. Groomed as a suave "Latin lover" type leading man in the 1920s, he went on to bcome a forceful, sturdy character actor, winning critical acclaim for his performances in The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) and Cheyenne Autumn (1964). His final screen performance, in 1982, came nearly 60 years after his Hollywood debut.
