FRANKLIN PANGBORN. Vintage 8x10 matte finish sepia tone chest-up portrait by Melbourne Spurr, circa 1928, boldly inscribed in blue fountain pen, "To Duncan Boes/With Sncere Good Wishes/from/Franklin Pangborn." Fine condition, with a few very mild handling bends and a few inoffensive spots of light discoloration, possibly inherent in the negative, not substantially detracting from the overall appearance of the image. A romantic lead on the stage, Franklin Pangborn was almost immediately pegged for comedy when he entered films in 1926. Over the course of three decades, Pangborn appeared in over 200 films, frequently cast as a prissy, easily flustered store clerk or hotel manager.
