FAY BAINTER. Vintage 8x10 matte finish silver tone bust portrait, circa 1940, inscribed in blue fountain pen, "To Florence Girst/Sincerely/Fay Bainter." Fine condition, with creasing in the upper left corner, not touching the inscription, and moderate contrast to portions of her signature, which are penned over the dark fabric of her dress. In 1938, Fay Bainter became the first actress to win Oscar nominations as both Best Actress (for White Banners) and Best Suporting Actress (for Jezebel), ultimately winning for the latter. Signed photographs are relatively uncommon.
