EVELYN BRENT. Vintage 8x10 glossy black and white chest-up glamour portrait, circa 1929, signed and inscribed in green fountain pen, "To/Myron/love/Evelyn/Brent." About fine condition, with minor paper loss to the bottom right corner tip; a tiny tear in the top border; and scattered generally mild handling bends that do not substantially detract from the overall appearance of the image. The writing on the photograph is considerably stronger than it appears in the accompanying scan, with the last two letters of the signature penned in a shadowy area of the image and a bit difficult to see. The sexy, hard-boiled leading lady of the silent screen seemed to become practically inert in front of the microphone, and her career quickly slid after 1930, although she soldiered on in films, in increasingly unrewarding roles, until her retirement in 1948.
