EMIL JANNINGS. Vintage 3.5 x 5.5 semi-glossy black and white tone half-length portrait, boldly signed in black fountain pen, "Mit besten Gruss/Emil Jannings." Light mounting remnants to the verso; otherwise very fine condition. The writing, while penned against the dark fabric of his jacket, is clear and readable. The eminent German actor ("That old ham!" - Marlene Dietrich) worked in Hollywood from 1927-1929, winning the first Academy Award for Best Actor.
