ELIZABETH ALLAN. Original vintage 10x8 glossy black and white half-length costume portrait, from an unknown film, of the British beauty, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, "To Ron Samuels/All best wishes/Elizabeth Allan." Very fine condition. A collector's notation on the reverse side indicates that this photograph was signed in 1982. After establishing herself on the British screen in the early 1930s, Elizabeth Allan was signed by MGM and appeared in such prestigious films as Men in White (1935), David Copperfield (1935), and A Tale of Two Cities (1935). She quit MGM in a contract dispute after being replaced by Rosalind Russell as leading lady in The Citadel (1938).
