Edmund Lowe
EDMUND LOWE. Vintage 8x10 glossy sepia tone chest-up portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, "To Saul/Sincerely/Edmund Lowe." Fine condition, with scattered mild handling bends and a date stamp on the reverse side indicating that this photograph was signed on Jan. 24, 1936. Handsome, rowdy leading man Edmund Lowe appeared in scores of silent films and made a smooth transition to sound. By the mid-Thirties his popularity began to decline. He played supporting roles at the major studios, while still playing occasional leads with Poverty Row studios, making his final screen appearance in 1960. His most famous role was Sgt. Harry Quirt in What Price Glory (1926), a performance he followed up with four sequels, the last of which was released in 1933. This photograph is from the extraordinary in-person collection of Saul Goodman, never before offered on the market.
