Eddie Cantor
EDDIE CANTOR. TLS, 1 p., 4to, NY, NY, June 14, 1923, on the letterhead of Bee Tee Publishing Company. The performer writes to columnist Ralph Holmes of The Detroit Times regarding the summer edition of the 1923 Ziegfeld Follies. In full: "Enclosed find article in Variety this week. While I am singing 'Eddie Steady' the lyric has been changed entirely and should not be objectionable to the most fastidious audience. The number has been so modified that I made a record of it this morning for Columbia and will send you one shortly, which will give you an idea of the extreme change in lyric. Incidentally, Mr. Eddie Darling of the B. F. Keith Circuit, claims this is the best number I have ever sung and predicts it will be a standard in my repertoire. It is needless to state that the song is the outstanding hit for me in the Follies. Trust everything is O.K. with you. With best wishes, Cordially yours, Eddie Cantor." Good to very good condition, with light soiling/age toning to the paper; paper loss and tears at the right edge; slight separation at the folds on the left edge; and slight ink brushing to one letter of the signature. Excellent career-related content; priced to reflect condition.
